From the Belly

Blessed Imbolc! We have trudged and made it to this cross quarter mark of the year. Halfway between the Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox. It is unseasonably warm in Wisconsin right now. Our outdoor thermometer read in the 70s today although the official high temp was in the upper 40s. My little Allie spent much of the afternoon stretched out on the deck, soaking up the sun. My son walked home in his T-shirt. It's perplexing as I am happy we aren't experiencing an artic blast, but worried about what this warm weather means for climate change. Regardless, the sun is higher in the sky for longer periods of time and I can feel the Wheel shift.

My cocoon consists of colored pencils, sticker books, and paints. Making collages and getting lost in colors. I am using my 2023 Witch's Diary by Flavia Kate Peters and Barbara Meiklejohn-Free for found poetry. All the words from these two collages came from the month of February.

Incantation

Awaken now from barren tomb

Light cutting through the darkness

The midwife within offers her nurturing

Through the darkness now light gleams

reveals the path

supporting our witchy ancestors

travel through the birth canal of the unknown

and towards a symbol of the dark

journey at its end

initiation into becoming

Birthing hope to seed the dream

To understand creation within the womb

The cauldron contains potential of all creation

The womb space you

prepare to replace illusions of the past

an energetic vortex with the power

As fertile fruits stir virgin womb

the promise of new life to embrace your soul’s awakening

witches pursue

your deep, silent wishes and desires

opportunities for growth you are to take

tear through the veil of illusion

live as your authentic self

This magick is worked with harm to none

So mote it be, there it is done.
